The Peer-to-Peer Finance Association today announced that Lord Adair Turner will address the risks and opportunities of peer-to-peer lending at LendIt Europe 2016, held in partnership with the Peer-to-Peer Finance Association. The conference will take place in London on 10 and 11 October 2016.

The former chairman of the Financial Services Authority will address what is anticipated to be the largest gathering of all the main European and UK peer-to-peer finance platforms, policy-makers, regulators and investors. More than a thousand delegates are expected to attend the conference in London in October, which, as the third annual LendIt Europe conference will be the second occasion where LendIt and the Peer-to-Peer Finance Association will have come together to organise the event.

Lord Turner said: ‘I am delighted to have this opportunity to speak in more depth about alternative finance, including the fast-growing peer-to-peer lending sector and the opportunities and risks that it may pose as it develops further’.

Christine Farnish CBE, Chair of the Peer-to-Peer Finance Association commented: ‘Lord Turner is an authoritative speaker on matters relating to financial services regulation and his views on how the opportunities and benefits of peer-to-peer lending can best be encouraged – and risks mitigated – through effective regulation, will be an important contribution to the debate’.
